Whole Scoop Information

Tucked along the charming streets of Alexandria Bay, Whole Scoop at Whole Scoop feels like the kind of spot you stumble upon once and then keep coming back to. The location is ideal, just a short walk from the waterfront, making it a convenient stop whether you’re exploring the Thousand Islands region or just passing through town.

The menu leans into classic American comfort fare with a playful, casual twist. Burgers, sandwiches, and quick bites dominate, but what really stands out is how fresh everything tastes. Even simple items like a grilled chicken sandwich or fries feel a notch above what you’d expect from a small-town diner. The portions are generous without being overwhelming, and there’s clearly an emphasis on keeping things satisfying rather than fancy. Of course, the ice cream selection is a major draw-rich, creamy scoops with a variety of flavors that rotate often enough to keep things interesting.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with that easygoing vibe you want when you’re on vacation or just taking a break from a busy day. It’s not trying to be upscale, and that works in its favor. Families, couples, and groups of friends all seem to fit right in, and there’s usually a steady buzz of conversation that makes the place feel lively without being chaotic. Seating can be a bit limited during peak hours, but the turnover is fairly quick, and most people don’t seem to mind waiting a few minutes.

Service is where Whole Scoop really earns its positive reviews. The staff comes across as genuinely welcoming, not just going through the motions. Orders are taken quickly, and even when it gets busy, there’s a noticeable effort to keep things moving smoothly. It’s the kind of place where you might get a recommendation for a new flavor or a quick chat about what’s popular that day, which adds a personal touch to the experience.

While it doesn’t aim to reinvent dining or offer an extensive gourmet menu, that’s not the point here. It’s about reliable, tasty food, a convenient location, and a welcoming environment that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit.

What People's Say About Place

Always have excellent strawberry sundaes here! I’ve read the girls have attitude but they’ve never been anything but nice. Considering it’s over 100 degrees in that shack cut them some slack.

One of the only ice cream spots in town. Decent prices. No real issues. Sometimes long lines.

The place to buy ice cream and walk around town. Not the most amazing but worth the treat. Limited seating.

Not too much seating, but this ice cream was meant to be enjoyed walking the quaint town of Alex Bay! My cream was delicious and refreshing - a great time making memories with my beloved wife. Would definitely go back.

Every year. They do need a card machine for 5 stars. Get with the now. Bury the 2.5% in the prices. Nobody will care

My wife and I ate here twice on a recent trip and the ice cream was great. Make sure to bring cash as they don't accept credit/debit cards.

Nice workers, they try their hardest even if people are rude.

Pretty good ice cream shop with tables next to it. Cash only but there is an atm behind it that you can get cash from.
